Simon Says Stamp Monday Challenge

Hello. So glad you joined me.

I have been enjoying making cards to match gift bags lately, so when I saw this challenge, I had the perfect idea. I went and found some gift bags that I wanted to use, and make cards to go with them.

I started with my favorite bag and am making a card by using Simon Says Stamp "Make Your Mark" stamp set to stamp the candles at the bottom of a Neenah Solar White cardstock panel in different colors of Stampin' Up! inks. 

Then I used Copic markers to add some stripes and polka dots to some of the candles. I also used a white jelly pen to add details on the candles.

I put double sided adhesive on the back of some gold glitter paper and used from Altenew "Mini Blossoms" dies and W Plus 9 "Southern Summer Floral 2" dies and cut leaves from it. And then cut some of the edges with some little craft scissors to vary them so they all did not look the same. I adhered them to the panel and then took a black Copic Multiliner pen to draw the wick between the flame and the candle.

I drew a line in pencil where I wanted to write Happy Birthday, and then wrote it in pencil first and then with the Copic Multiliner pen.

I masked off the Happy Birthday with some Post it masking tape. Then I took Tonic "Beautiful Bokeh Essential Stencil" and taped in on top of the panel. I spread Ranger Distress Collage Medium Matte over the stencil where I wanted it, and then removed the stencil and added gold glitter to the panel. I then made sure to clean the stencil so the glue did not dry on it.

I adhered the panel when everything was dry to a white card base.

Coloring Virtuoso Category

Welcome Back.

I have another card for the contest going on over at My Favorite Things Blog. This one is for the coloring virtuoso category.

I started the card by taking the Happy Birthday Centerpiece Die-Namics from My Favorite Things to trace the outline of the cake on my Neenah Solar White card panel. I went to the My Favorite Things store, but could not find this anymore, so I apologize that it is not available anymore.

Then I used the smallest rectangle from the A2 Rectangle stacks die-namics and 3M Post It Note tape and created the chevron pattern on the mask to cut it apart. I blended the chevron shape on the middle layer with Lush Lagoon and Poppy inks.

I used the same inks to color in and blend color to the top layer and the bottom layer. I also added some berrylicious to the bottom layer. 

I used some Sour Apple ink and more Post It Note tape to create a stripe of green on the middle layer.

I took a triangular piece of fun foam and EZ Mount static cling mounting foam to make a stamp. I used the stamp and made a banner on the bottom layer first with white pigment ink and then with some coordinating colors.

I used the "Party Balloons" stamp set (not available anymore either:(...) to stamp the starburst image on the bottom layer with VersaMark ink and then silver heat embossed them.

I roughly masked off the cake and used Banana Split and Daffodil inks to blend color on the background. 

I used a variety of Gel pens to color in various details on the layers, candles, flames and background. I then used a Perfect Pearls sticky ink pen to color in shapes on the candle flames and then silver heat embossed them as well.

 I mounted the panel onto a yellow card base.

My Favorite Things

Clean & Simple Genius Category

Wow, it has been a long time since I have been able to post a card on my blog. It is not that I have not been creating,  just been busy with summer stuff, and life.

My husband and I train during the summer to ride 63 miles for a charity event on our bikes. It's always an accomplishment when we get done with it.  

Our son and his wife trained this year to ride 100 miles, and we got to ride with them for about 40 of them, and then the ride seperates and they get to ride the rest without us. And, our son-in-law rode the 63 miles with us.

What a fun time!

I have made a card to enter into My Favorite Things Card Design Superstar. 

I started this card by stamping three monsters from "Monster Sized" from My Favorite things onto a piece of Neenah solar white cardstock. Then I used My Favorite Things ink and the "Party Balloons" stamp set to stamp the three balloons. 

I cut masks for the bottom two monsters  and then used some distress ink to blend in some hills at the bottom of the panel, and sky at the top of the panel. I used pieces of the hill masks to cover the balloons, moving the masks so that all around the outside of the panel will have some color.

I then removed all the masks and used Copic Sketch Markers to color in everything. 

I used some clear Wink Of Stella on the balloons and the eye balls. I outlined everything with a Copic Multiliner pen, and then whitened the teeth with a white Jelly pen.
