Altenew Educator Program Level 3- Part 3

Hello!

The Ways with Washi classes is the next class that I will be focussing on.

One of my favorite things to do is to create a gift bag and card that match or go together. And I thought, what better way to have them go together, than to cover them with Washi. Altenew has some beautiful Washi tapes in an assortment of colors and sizes. I still want to try some of their really wide ones. I think that would be fun. They are really easy to use.

I started the card by covering a piece of Neenah Solar White Cardstock with Altenew's Glitter Flurries washi.

I adhered some 3M foam tape to the back, and right up against the edges of the cardstock. I wanted this to be like a canvas print, where the picture is taken around the edges of the art piece. I then cut the corners of the washi and then wrapped the washi around the corners.

I added so more adhesive to where the washi covered the foam tape and adhered it to a card base. I set that aside because I was not sure the direction I wanted this card to go.

For the second card I covered Neenah cardstock with Altenew's Calming Bouquet Washi. I did not add foam tape to this one yet.

I used the Altenew Mega Greetings 2 die to cut the word happy out of the panel. I covered the main panel with 3M foam tape and adhered that to a card base.

I was going to adhere the word right to the card base, but I wanted the Happy to stand out. So, I will save the word Happy for a later project.

I Stamped the Birthday from the Mega Greetings 2 set onto a piece of purple cardstock with VersaMark ink and white heat embossed it. I layered that onto some silver glitter paper and adhered that to the card.

Next I worked on the bags. I purchased some white gift bags from my local craft store.

The Calming Bouquet Washi is larger than the bag front, so Covered the front and left enough washi to cover half of the bottom of the bag. I used some Tombo Mono Multi Liquid Glue and adhered it to the front, and to the bottom. Then I realized I wanted the sides covered next, so I cut pieces for the sides, leaving extra at the top and cutting even at the bottom. Adhered them with some glue as well. I overlapped the front and back pieces over the sides and adhered with some glue on those as well. Left about an inch and a quarter the top, cut slits for the handles and folded over and glued the top peices down. Any dried glue I cleaned up with an adhesive eraser.

For the second bag, The Glitter Flurries Washi is smaller than the bag front, so I decided to do the sides first. Overlapping the top, but cutting straight across the bottom.

Here is a better view of the inside.

This time, I only added glue to the corners, and that seemed to be enough

When I had both sides done, I covered the front and the back. I cut a separate piece to cover the bottom. And I glued it down. Cut slits in the top for the handles, and folded them over and glued down the edges.

I created tags by covering some Neenah cardstock with the washi tapes and cutting them with the Hero Arts Nesting Tag Dies.

For one I cut a Bigger tag in gold foil cardstock, and the other some silver glitter cardstock.

I layered them up and adhered them together. Added some coordinating ribbons and tied them onto the bags.

Finishing up the first card, I used a sentiment from Altenew's Birthday Greeting set. Stamped the image in VersaMark ink onto black cardstock and gold heat embossed it. Adhered some more Glitter Flurries washi to some Neenah cardstock and fussy cut out some of the flowers and leaves. I adhered the sentiment with some 3M foam tape and layered the flowers to the left edge.

I love these, and can't wait for the opportunity to use them.

I think the one using the Glitter Flurries Washi tape is my favorite. But, I do like things that have glitter and shine.

I hope that this was helpful to you, and that you enjoyed these projects.

Thanks for visiting!

Altenew Educator Program Level 3- Part 2

 Hello, and Welcome.

I hope you are having a good day.

Card 2 for level 3, I chose from the classes, "Clean, Simple and Colorful Techniques. This set of classes was taught by Laura Bassen, which was a fun set of classes. She has such a fun, bubbly personality.

The specific class was the last one, Smoosh resist with an acetate sheet and ink.

For this card, I started with a piece of Canson XL watercolor paper . Treated it with an anti-static powder bag, and stamped the flower and leaves from Altenew's Flower Garden stamp set with VersaMark ink so that I could heat emboss them with white embossing powder.

Once that was heated and set,

I used some Tim Holtz Distress inks in,

                                       Salty Ocean

Twisted Citron

Squeezed Lemonade

  Ripe Persimmon

                                          Abandoned Coral

                                        and Festive Berries

I used an acetate sheet from a small stamp set and squished some ink on the acetate, then used a spray bottle to spray it with a couple squirts of water. I then flipped it over and let the ink and water soak in the paper as I moved the acetate around to get my desired look. I continued to do this with all the colors, until I had the look that I wanted.

Once that was dry, I took a small amount of Ranger Perfect Pearls, in the color Perfect Pearls, and placed it on my craft mat and mixed it with a small amount of water and then splattered it all over the card, making sure there was larger and smaller splatters.

I then used Altenew's "For All Seasons" stamp set to create a sentiment, by heat embossing the Happy Birthday in silver embossing powder onto a piece of black card stock.

I unwound some silver thread in coils to the top of the card, and adhered the sentiment on top of the coiled thread with some 3M foam adhesive.

I cut a piece of black card stock about a 1/4" bigger on both side and centered the card on top of it. Then I adhered them to a teal card base. And lastly, I adhered some Studio Katia water droplets to the card.

I love the way this card turned out. You never know what this loose style of watercolor smooshing will turn out like.

Altenew Educator Program Level 3- Part 1

WELCOME!

I'm happy to finally get back to finishing the Altenew Educator Program.  The next 5 posts will be the last classes that I will take to finish up the program, before the final exam.

For the first card, I made this card inspired by One Layer Wonders classes. Loved Kelly Latevola -Taylor and her classes. The specific class was fifth one, titled "Quick backgrounds with multiple stamps".

I started the card by stamping the flowers and leaves from the Smile More stamp set in Gina K amalgam ink on some Neenah white 80 lb. cardstock.

I was going to color the images in copic markers. But I decided to do some masking and create a flower grouping in the bottom corner of a card.

Next, I used some Prismacolor colored pencils to color in the images.

Used a black, white, and yellow gel pens to add some dots here and there.

I used the Spellbinders Yana's Sentiments hot foil dies to add a sentiment with some black foil.

I felt like it was missing something, so I used Altenew inks in Wisteria and Hydrangea to ink blend the upper right corner with the inks. And I little bit on the lower left corner.

With the opportunity of taking these classes, there have been some that I have really enjoyed, and this is in the top of that list!

Thank you so much for visiting.
