Altenew Level 2

Final Project

I have created a calendar for my level 2 final project.

I have started by creating the calendar template in Excel and then I printed them onto Neenah Solar White card stock.

I wanted to create a calendar with the birth month flowers. So I will list the flowers then with the class and particular lesson which I used to create the month. I have used a basic masking technique which was taught in the first lesson of the Masking Unleashed classes to cover the days up while decorating the outside of each month.

January: Carnation, Beyond Basic Backgrounds- water bleaching.
February: Violet, Color Your Day- adding color with layering stamps and
Beautiful Details- adding more detail to a stamped image.
March: Daffodil, Impressive Heat Embossing- heat embossing for coloring.
April: Sweat Pea, In the Mood For Color- PINK, sensitive, caring, and sweet.
May: Hawthorn, Color Your Day- using the color wheel.
June: Honeysuckle, Beautiful Details- artistic flowers and adding in details.
July: Larkspur, Impressive Heat Embossing- heat embossing for coloring.
August: Poppy, Color Your Day- adding color with layering stamps.
September: Aster, Beyond Basic Backgrounds- DIY stencil from dies.
October: Cosmos, Beautiful Details- details using colored pencils.
November: Chrysanthemum, Creative Watercolor Media- painting in the image.
December: Holly, Color Your Day- adding color with layering stamps.

I used the Color Your Day classes to help me create February, August, and December I added color by using layering stamp sets. A couple tips were to stamp off the edge of the paper and rotating the image, so that the do not all look the same. For the Violets in February, I also added in some pencil details using a technique from the Beautiful Details classes.

For December , after doing the layering stamps, I added in some Nuvo crystal drops and wink of Stella clear pen to give it some dimmension.

Another lesson from the Color Your Day classes was to find inspiration from the color wheel. I used complimentary colors to create the May month.

I loved the Beautiful Details classes. I used the first class to help me create June. I created loose, artistic, Honeysuckle flowers using solid stamps from Altenew's Painted Rose stamp set. Using second and third generation stamping to create illusion and give more detail. Marika talks about using  the time you have to give your stamped image a personal touch. Whether it be 15 min or an hour, personalize your work.

A technique from Beyond Basic Backgrounds class uses water bleaching, and the subtle look you get from this technique which I used for January. Another technique from the classes is making a stencil made from a die, which I did for September.

One of the Impressive Heat Embossing classes teaches the technique of coloring in the image after heat embossing. Months March and July I used this technique with some Prismacolor colored pencils.

In the Mood For Color classes, you are taught to use color to create a mood. I wanted the mood of April to be sensitive, caring, and sweet. And pink is the color which conveys these feelings. I used layering stamps to give the flowers the dimmension and added in some little dots.

For October, I used the Beautiful Details class on adding details using colored pencils.

November, I used Creative Watercolor Media. Because I was not adding water to watercolor paper, I used a pigment ink to create a barrier, so that I could add water on top of it without ruining the paper. I painting in the image with watercolors.

Here is a look at all 12.

adding pinterest script 3. Changing the Position of the Pin it! button The cool thing about this code is that you have some freedom over where the Pinterest button for Blogger will go over the image. Take a look at the code that you just copied and pasted into the HTML for the word 'center'.
